Carter led the team from west to east on Six Gun Draw trail and Wildfire Gulch trail. Despite being the youngest of the youth staff and having his older brother as part of the team, Carter did a great job in delegating assignments and getting the job done!

Ben took the lead on having the team groom the Pawnee Ridge trails. On the east end, there was virtually no trail, so Ben had to find old signs and groom a new trail. Ben also led the team while Jerry was out of town and completed these trails.

cowboy values - honor

We had a great discussion about why having a sense of duty is important and what we need to do in order to be trusted and counted on by others. On the trails, it is important for each of us to work hard, even when we think no one else is looking. This builds trust and helps us to establish that we have real integrity. As leaders, we are constantly being watched by those who follow us. If we don’t keep our word or don’t follow through with something we promise, it is very difficult to reestablish that trust in a team.

video & photo moments…

We voted on a team rule that anyone who is late in the morning gets to entertain the rest of us by singing a song. Ben has favored us with a few numbers over the summer so far and here, honors us with four lines of “Let It Go”.

(First Video Above) The team is learning that Trevan is a great source of entertainment as long as someone dares him to do something. In this case, he was dared to place his hand in an ant pile and ended up making $8. (Second Video Above) Again, Trevan was dared to something. This time, he was dared to kiss a snake. Last year, he was only dared to pick up a snake…what will he do with a snake next year??? The trend is NOT good…

Carter captured a great picture of one of our beautiful days on the trail.
