This week, Kathleen Treu planned some super scientific activities for her parent day at HSP! We put Pop Rocks into soda to watch how the reaction creates gas, which we observed through balloons. We put the Pop Rocks into the balloons, and then secured the balloons to the top of the soda. After that, we let all the Pop Rocks fall into the soda and watched the reaction take place. The balloons expanded from the gas leaving the reaction. Some of us even drank the soda after...which we heard wasn’t that tasty. She also brought in supplies to make our own Superballs out of cornstarch, glue, and borax. We had a ball!
